... on the molecular basis of the extended lifespan of an infected social insect

In this collaboration paper the Foitzik and the Butter lab worked together to investigate the molecular basis of phenotypic alterations and lifespan extension in infected Temnothorax nylanderi workers. By using transcriptomic data from cestodes and ants of different castes they suggest that the lifespan extension of infected workers is not achieved via the expression of queen-specific genes.
